Wizard Hat Luminary= FUN!

For today's project I used the new Halloween Soiree kit and I am loving the cute hat!  As soon as I Saw the cut outs with the colors peeking through I knew it would make a great luminary!  I also thought it would be fun to make as "wizard" hat rather than a regular witch hat.  :)  So we have moon's stars and a sparkly band.  A little vellum, a tea light and...Voila! It glows! A bunch of them for a table setting might be fun ;)

It's hard to believe that 6 months has flown by so quickly and that my time with the SVG Attic design team is concluding.  I have had a great time and enjoyed watching SVG Attic grow so quickly!  What an awesome team and I will miss working with everyone!  Thank you and I look forward to remaining a SVG Attic fan!!!

This week's project I used the G is for Gratitude kit and made the quick and simple, yet lovely thank you card.  I mighta made it in one of my favorite combos- note: watermelon.  I also wanted the flowers to have a little more- so I double layered them- basically making my own kind of flower.

Who is that lady?

Another fun project for the SVG Attic Inspiration Team!
I really like the Day at the Races kit and especially the silhouette lady on the bag.  But  I thought it would be nice to use her as card too!  I am loving the way it turned out.

I made the back and front of the bag at 50% size.  I scored the front along the edge and back of her hairline to glue the front and back together, making it easy to open too.  Because of the smaller size, I was able to give the hat some texture in my cuttlebug. Overall I am very pleased with how the project turned out.  I have left the inside blank with no sentiment as I haven't decided if it should be a birthday card for a special lady, or it could be used as a thank you card as well!  It also would make a lovely Mother's Day card... oh the possibilities!

I hope you have enjoyed today's inspiration project! :)

Box Card Obsession

I have had such a great time making these box cards!  I wanted to make all of the special ladies for our family one, and did!  Thankfully SVGCuts came to rescue with a well timed kit, as I had been working on some of my own ideas, but as usual, things were too busy to do it the way I wanted.  This kit made it easy, the hard part was picking the papers! :)  Here are the rest of what I made...

I have lot's of ideas for more fun themed box card kits and hopefully I will get time to work on them and share them soon!  How about you?  Are you digging the box card excitement?

Teacher Appreciation Week

Around these parts this week is Teacher Appreciation Week, and about a bazillion other things going on too!  I know all of you with school aged kids can relate, it's just a busy time of year...  I wanted to make a card for my son's teacher and I knew I wanted it clean and simple.  I feel like that suits his teacher the best.  I love the chevron background in the Vintage Nation kit, and new it would give some texture to the card without being too busy or frilly.  Best of all?  I was able to whip this up quickly!  Sometimes that alone is just as important as being able to craft something for someone special.

Don't forget about the Anything Goes Challenge!  You should join us, who couldn't use to won some more SVGAttic files!? :)

Happy Crafting!
Melissa

Hello Friends!

I have had so much fun making box cards this week for Mother's day!  I had planned to design some on my own and then SVG Cuts made it too easy and came out with some kits that make it super fast and easy!  With my limited time for crafting after work and school these days, it was perfect!   Here's what I made so far...

They are adorable and I think everyone will love them. :)  I'm making them for all the mom and grandma's this year!
Happy Mother's Day to all you mom's out there and I hope you get a little crafty time too!

Enter the Anything Goes Challenge!

Hello Friends!  Today is an opportunity for me to hopefully inspire you to go create and WIN! SVGAttic is having a fun challenge and you are invited to join in the fun.  You can win up to a $25 gift card to shop through the fun designs at SVGAttic!  Nothing better than winning more crafty goodness.  You will need to use a recognizable SVG Attic file in your design but other than that- ANYTHING GOES!  You have until May 31st to link up your creation and join in the fun.

To help inspire you I made a scrapbook page.  My other hobby is genealogy.  I spend a ridiculous amount of time researching- and I love every second of it!  I have a vast collection of photos that I have acquired from my grandmothers.  Many originals- and from my distant grandmother- pictures of her pictures.  My grandmother in Illinois has been working on creating albums for years- they are exciting and fun to look through.  I wanted to give her some fun extras to add to the albums.  As soon as I saw the split monograms at SVG Attic I knew EXACTLY how I was going to use them.  I used all Close to My Heart papers- I love how the color palettes all go together so nicely making choosing colors a snap! If you are interested in learning more go to my site or email me!  I have a special offer for all new customers.

This is just for one of the family lines of course.  I have MANY more to make :) I hope she likes it as much as I do.  I think it will be fun to add this to her beautiful collection.
I hope that you enjoyed today's project and that it inspires you to join the Anything Goes Challenge

Balloon Ride Blog Hop!

Hooray! It's Blog Hop Time!

Welcome to the Damask Divas May Blog Hop featuring the beautiful Balloon Ride Paper Pack!  If you came from MyPassionforScrapbooking, you are in the right place!  If you have jumped here and just discovered our blog hop, feel free to check the list at Damask Divas blog to find the complete list of blog hop participants.

For today's project I really wanted to showcase the beautiful balloons featured in this pack.  I took time to "fussy cut" several of the balloons on the page and affix them with different sized foam tape to give several layers- which of course is hard to see in a photo :).  I used a banner from my Artiste collection chipboard pieces, and the Happy Birthday sentiment from the super versatile Joyful Birthday collection.  The edges of the card were distressed with desert sand and sorbet inks, and the banner with sorbet, which pairs along perfectly with this collection.  I hope that you enjoyed today's card and that you feel as inspired to create with this paper pack as I do!
The next blog on the list is Aime Kiger's blog. Hope you have a great time on our hop and checking out all the creations using the beautiful Balloon Ride paper. If you get lost, just hop on over to Damask Divas blog for the full list.

Make A Wish!

I'm back with another DT project for SVGAttic!  This is from their Make a Wish kit.

I had fun making this with some of my favorite Close to My Heart papers.  I used my Cuttlebug to emboss the liner layer to add some texture to eh card.  I also wanted to add some dimension and color so I created layers for all of the words on my Silhouette and placed the words with foam pop-ups.  Somehow I ended up using all of MY favorite papers, but it's a little piece of me to give as a gift to someone, so I think that might be all-right. :)

One can never have too many birthday cards on hand.  I actually made this with someone special in mind, but sadly she will never see it.  That's a story for another day.  But in spirit of her, I added this sentiment to the inside of the card:

I hope you enjoyed today's project, and I hope you stop over to see the folks at SVGAttic, they are having a terrific sale right now!

Inspiration team SVG Attic!

Im so excited to share that I am now part of the Inspiration Team (Design Team) for SVG Attic!  I'm not only excited because it will be fun, but it will help keep me in the craft room so I have lots to share here with you!  Here is my intro post and project for today :)

Hello!   I'm Melissa Lind of My Watermelon Moon.  I live in beautiful San Diego, California with my beautiful family.  I am a paper crafting addict who doesn't get enough time to work on it.  I'm sure many of you can relate!  I am the mother of a 14 year old daughter and 12 year old son.  I just celebrated my 15th wedding anniversary with the love of my life who supports my crazy passions.  That's true love!  I like to make cards and scrap book pages, but I LOVE to make the 3D paper crafts.  They are definitely my favorite.  I love to make pretty boxes to put gifts in, they always get the biggest smiles.  In addition to paper crafting, I also love to cook, bake, read and my recent passion has been genealogy.  I am lucky and have two grandmothers with lots of information and stories to tell and I love the thrill of the "hunt" to gather more information about our families roots.

            A little more about me~

Places I have lived: Chicago & San Diego.  Basically really only San Diego, and while I love visiting other places, I never want to leave home!

Style: While I appreciate lots of different styles, I usually gravitate toward clean, simple, elegant designs.  Although I am trying to break that habit and try to expand as an artist.

Favorite Project:  Oh, that's a tough one.  I am so excited about each project, they are all my favorites!

To share today I made the well in the Make a Wish kit at SVG Attic.  I love this paper and I like how the project shows it off so well.  I also really love the wishing well, there is some thing magical about them :).

I really look forward to sharing projects and getting to know all of you and I am so glad to be part of the team!  Thank you for letting me share with you and have a fantastic day!

My Other Passion

It's been quite a while since I have made mention of it here on the blog, but in addition to life simply taking me away form doing as much crafting and blogging as I would like- I have another passion.  Genealogy.  I am lucky enough to have both my maternal and paternal grandmothers still here with me.  Both of them took on the role of family historian at some point in their lives.  They both have amazing memories and are good story tellers.  So far most of my research has happened on my couch, and interviewing grandmothers.  But as I learn more and more about research and where to find nuggets of information, i long to learn more!  It's just as serious a disease as paper crafting.  Now I have two passions to tame :)

In any case,  If any of you are in Southern California, I hope you will explore with me at my first conference:

http://www.genealogyjamboree.com/

I am excited to meet new people and learn lots!

There are some new pretty paper crafts coming soon too! :)

Hello! Hello? Hellloooooooo?

It's been 274 days since my last post. Are any of you still out there? What on earth have I been doing? Well It certainly wasn't crafting! Mostly I have been working- A LOT. There hasn't been much time for fun. My craft area was piled high with "do it later" have to's, like filing. But I finally unearthed it. I have missed being here, and creating so much. Longed to make something, but simply been to exhausted or overwhelmed to even consider it. Today though- I took it. I stole some time, ignored the have to's and made a little project. My daughter is starting her first high school photography class next week and I thought it would be fun to make a little something to celebrate! So I made this fun little box from SVGCuts.

I loved how it turned out and so did she!  I was so excited I posted even with the sub-par photography :) Now that the crafty area is clean and I'm excited to craft again...  You should hear from me more regularly!
Thanks for stopping by and I look forward to sharing more with you soon!
